Christmas Shoping in Williamsburg Virginia

Its about time for some new shoes.
Okay folks, this is just wrong.
Now, this a bit more my standard.
A dwarf dwarfed by candles, getting ready for the festive scents.
Smeels like I've beem baked in and pie and...
dunkked it a pot of coffee.
I remember this smell, reminds me of the old days.

Colonial Williamsburg Virginia

So, this is the Governor's Cottage. All seven of us could've lived here. It would've been a bit much for Snow to keep up with though.

At Busch Gardens

Grumpy went to Christmastown at Busch Gardens. He spent his entire time in O'Grogan's Pub. Grumpy tends to be partial to a tall black and tan (not a dachshund).

Grumpy Helps Serve Thanksgiving Dinner

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Shiloh UMC served Thanksgiving dinner at the Parkview Mission. Of course, Grumpy came along to help. He started out handing out napkins to the guests.
Then Grumpy went over to help hand out deviled eggs. But, he had to be moved because he kept trying one out of each tray that came out. So, they moved him over to they gravy.
Grumpy did very good serving gravy. His only temptation there was to take a gravy swim.

Grumpy Goes To Shiloh UMC Homecoming

Grumpy attended the Shiloh UMC 2012 Homecoming on September 16th. There was a bunch of other folks there, too. He enjoyed seeing old friends, but their preacher tended to go on a bit long. But, at least he has a grey beard, too.
They had an overflow crowd stay for lunch, but there were plenty of seats. These United Methodist sure know how to put on a lunch. Even with the crowd, they never ran out of food. Good thing too, because Grumpy comes with an appetite.
What would a Homecoming be without fried chicken?

The desserts were abundant and of course Grumpy sampled most of them.

When my first grandchild, Thomas, started talking the plan was for him to call me "Grampy". That was what I called my grandfather and what my children call my father. But, when he tried to say it, it came out "Grumpy". Much to the delight of my daughter, his mom, Courtney. As the following grandchildren; Taisie, Levi, and Lila, came along they were't given the option of calling me anything other than Grumpy. So the name stuck. I decided that I would make it work for me.

My wife, Joanne, and I frequently visit Walt Disney World and while there I am on a constant hunt for anything with the charactor Grumpy. I have numerous shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, neckties, and other apparel with Grumpy on them. I even aquired a Grumpy suitcase and computer bag.

As a United Methodist pastor, we have a lot of official meetings and classes to attend. I started wearing my Grumpy shirts to any official United Methodist function. I have some fellow pastors who only know me as Rev. Grumpy. I'm not trying to make any statement, except that I am reminding myself not to take myself too seriously.

As a joke I took this photo down at Duke Divinity School and my wife's cousin, Mary Love, suggested that I start a new blog. So this is my attempt. I realize that this is not a new concept, I have seen others do this, but it just might be fun.

Grumpy returns to Duke Divinity School for his fouth year of Weekend Course of Study.
